What Is the VentureWell Ocean Enterprise Accelerator?

The VentureWell Ocean Enterprise Accelerator is a national program that helps startups develop technologies for ocean and coastal applications. Voltic participated in its Spring 2026 Stage 1 cohort, which VentureWell ran in partnership with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The accelerator supports founders working across areas such as shipping, ports, water quality, aquaculture, robotics, sensors, and coastal management. Its program combines entrepreneurial training with market discovery, business-model development, coaching, technical support, and access to testing partners. VentureWell selected 15 startups for the Spring 2026 Stage 1 cohort. Stage 1 included three months of virtual programming and mentorship, with weekly coaching sessions scheduled from April 22 through June 10. Participants then attended a three-day, in-person workshop from June 16 through June 18 at the University of Rhode Island Bay Campus. VentureWell described Voltic as a Boston company developing a patented power system for unlimited-range, zero-emission electric retrofits of existing cargo ships without replacing legacy infrastructure. The cohort listing placed Voltic alongside companies working on other ocean technologies, including coral monitoring and autonomous underwater mapping. Stage 1 focuses on helping startups test market assumptions and develop stronger business models. The program also offers later stages with deeper mentorship and venture support for eligible participants.
